Contemporary 3D Collages
On display
Memory is rarely a clear image. It settles in layers – a mood beneath a moment, a sound behind a face – and resurfaces without order. In her collages, DESIREH gives this condition a physical body.
The work begins in digital space. Since 2022, DESIREH has built abstract 3D worlds in Polycam to give the invisible a visible form: inner worlds of stored moments and feelings, some almost figurative, others entirely abstract. Within one of these worlds she pauses at a single point of view, one that holds a story of memories, and lets it become an image. As in memory, one angle remains and the rest recedes.
From this image the collage emerges, by hand and in paper – not as a way back into the original world, but as a second view onto it, almost a new perspective on the old world of feeling.
Between the layers, DESIREH builds connections that put the order of near and far in question. What is in front and what is behind is no longer certain, and the eye is invited to move through the image rather than over it. What is offered here is not clarity but the sensation of the ungraspable – which is precisely what the world these images come from is.
The works do not depict a state of consciousness. They remain at the threshold between seeing and understanding, where feeling has not yet become language.
Each collage is a unique work, approx. 21 × 30 cm, presented with a mount in a box frame (30 × 40 cm).
